Artic Char
Mar 7, 2019 | From Water
THIS FRESHWATER FISH IS CLOSELY RELATED TO BOTH TROUT AND SALMON, WITH THE FLAVOR BEING CLOSER TO TROUT. TYPICALLY FOUND IN THE COLD WATERS OF THE NORTH, THIS FISH IS ANADROMOUS, WHICH MEANS IT TRAVELS FROM THE FRESHWATER TO SALTWATER TO SPAWN. UNLIKE ITS RELATIVE, THE SALMON, ARTIC CHAR DOES NOT DIE AFTER SPAWING, BUT CAN LIVE TO 25 YEARS. IT POSSESSES FIRM MEAT WITH A HIGH FAT CONTENT AND RANGES FROM 2 TO 8 POUNDS.
