THESE CLAMS ARE BEST USED FOR FRIED CLAMS, AS THEY ARE NOT AS FLAVORFUL AS THE HARDSHELL CLAM. THEY CAN BE FOUND FROM LONG ISLAND TO VIRGINA, WHILE OVER HALF THE HARVEST COMES FROM THE NEW JERSEY AREA. THEY ARE USUALLY SOLD PROCESSED AND RARELY SOLD LIVE. THEY ARE TOO BIG AND TOUGH TO BE EATEN WHOLE.
